Like-Minded People

I would like to start by saying that I cannot express enough how absolutely important and crucial to your well-being it is to surround yourself with like-minded people. Being around people who share the same values, morals, passion, self-worth, love for others, etc. can have such a huge impact on the person you become and the energy you put out. These people can be your motivators, your creative inspiration, your mentors, your constructive criticism, they can be honest with you and guide you. You become the company you keep!

On Sunday when I arrived home from my weekend trip to London to photograph a wedding, I was feeling very motivated to be outside doing something and my friend and fellow photographer Alex (@twosighted) reached out to me and said "let's plan something!". An hour and some model searching goes by when I get a reply from our mutual best friend Max (@maxthebrain). The three of us had been wanting to get together for a while now and this was the perfect opportunity. We decided to not put too much thought into what we were shooting and just WING IT.

We drove out to this spot on Drouillard and started shooting. Alex is such a talented photographer and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him and Max shoot together. Mostly because of all the jokes they kept making but also because it can be so inspiring just to watch someone else direct and shoot in the same location with the same model as you and see how different their creations are. We had so much fun and laughs shooting these with the very little daylight we had left.

Both Max and Alex are the types of people everyone needs in their life. The amount of talent, passion, and drive they have towards their careers is astounding and inspiring, the morals and values they keep are rare in todays world and the love they have for the people their close to is simply beautiful. I'm so honoured to call them some of my best friends and proud of the people they've become.

After our shoot, we went to Max's studio where hilarity and creativity continued. The rest of the night I sat editing these images and they created music while all of us watched anime. By the time midnight rolled around, our eyes were so tired and our abs and cheeks were hurting from laughing so much!

I want to leave you with a question to ponder:
Could the people and toxic energy in your life be keeping you from achieving your goals and stopping you from reaching the highest version of your being? Think about the aspects of your life that are stopping you from evolving and transcending and begin to make the sacrifices necessary. I'm not telling you to cut friendships with those in your life, I'm telling you to put yourself out there to meet new people who share the same visions as you. I'm suggesting that you let go of any fear you may have associated with making new friends and just go it. Start attending those events you've been wanting to that your friends didn't want to accompany you to and just go alone! Start doing the things you enjoy alone! Put yourself in new atmospheres where there is a possibility for new friendships to evolve.
